The Reality of Child Trafficking and Exploitation

The reality is child trafficking and exploitation are not a myth. It is happening every day around the world. In Myanmar, Thailand, and Brazil:

• $3.00 will buy a child's virginity in Myanmar.
• 40% of all Thailand's prostitutes are under 16 years old.
• The bodies of live and murdered babies are used to smuggle drugs and gems across borders in Myanmar.
• In areas of Brazil, it is believed that a girl should lose her virginity to her father.
• For some children, stealing in their community guarantees them the loss of their hand or worse.

Life Impact International's Mission

At Life Impact International we are committed to being a voice for the voiceless. We will speak up and fight for victims and work to rescue them and ensure that they will never have to face the same trauma and abuse. Not only is sexual exploitation and sex-trafficking the only life they've ever known, but they also experience extreme physical abuse and violence on a daily basis.

We search out and assess the needs of the most vulnerable and at-risk children, families, and communities. Then, we fulfill those needs through various education and awareness projects, feeding programs, outreaches ... and doing anything we can to keep families together. We are honored to be a part of a governmental network consisting of the head of social welfare, police, border control, hospitals, and community leaders that inform us when the next child needs to be rescued. We then investigate and intervene. We don't just rescue children; we take every step possible to bring healing and wholeness to each child. Our goal is to rehabilitate and restore every child entrusted to our care. Our strategy is simple: Prevent, Rescue, and Heal.

Prevent: Protecting Vulnerable Children Before Exploitation

Prevention Projects

Children need a safe place to go, so that is what we have created. We bus kids out of the most dangerous slums to our facilities, where they have a space to learn and grow. The children have access to vocational training skills such as baking, carpentry, judo, music, art, along with receiving tutoring and counseling. By providing a secure environment with a trained counselor and social worker, we give them a way out of exploitation and a better future.

Feeding Programs

Through feeding programs alongside local partners, we build the trust of communities so that they call on us when the next child needs to be rescued.

School Partnership

We partner with schools by providing teachers' salaries, school supplies, uniforms, and daily meals.

Rescue: Bringing Children to Safety

No matter where the child comes from, our primary goal is to get them to safety and begin the process of recovery and healing. Rescues happen in many different ways. We deploy our teams into poverty and drug-infested areas where traffickers prey on the desperation of families.

When we find a child being exploited, we intervene either directly or through our local partners to get the child out of harm's way and into a safe house. We are also part of a network with the head of social welfare, police, border control, hospitals, community leaders, and local NGOs who refer victims to us. We were the first government-recognized safe home on the Thai/Myanmar border. We are also members of their Official Child Protection Committee.

Heal: Restoring Hope and Healing

We never stop with just a rescue. We take every step to bring complete healing and wholeness to every child. Every child who is rescued goes through a proven multi-step process, in which they end up with their own new family surrounded by love and constant care.

Transition Homes

Immediately upon rescue, the child is placed in a transition home on Life Impact's land. There they receive physical, mental, and spiritual care until they are healthy enough to begin their new life with their forever family in a family-style safe home.

Family-Style Safe Homes

Each safe home on our property consists of a house mother, father, and siblings. This allows each child to be part of a loving family and experience a healthy parent/child relationship in a safe and protected environment. Here, they receive the love and security needed for further healing.

Trauma Counseling

For rescued children, working through trauma is imperative for the overall healing and recovery process. We do everything possible to bring healing to the whole child, (spirit, soul, and body) helping them to process and overcome the abuse they've endured, giving them the necessary tools to thrive and enjoy a healthy future.
