Why Eden Began in Myanmar

Eden launched its programs in Myanmar in 2014, where years of political instability, natural disasters, and ethnic conflict created conditions that leave many people vulnerable to trafficking.

Poverty and political unrest remain major drivers of Myanmar's human trafficking crisis. In recent years, economic collapse caused by the pandemic and ongoing political instability has further increased the need for organizations like Eden to provide essential services and support for survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

A Trauma-Informed Approach to Survivor Care

Through a relationship-focused and trauma-informed model, Eden reaches individuals who are at high risk of trafficking as well as survivors living in the red-light districts of Yangon and Northern and Eastern Shan State.

This approach allows Eden to identify previously unknown victims, collect valuable migration tracking data, and address the root causes of trafficking. By focusing on long-term healing and reintegration, Eden helps reduce the risk of re-trafficking while empowering survivors to build sustainable, independent futures.
